Google Apps For Educators Training

How can we establish ourselves as teachers and students online using digital tools? This workshop includes a series of hands-on activities focused on online teaching and support tools. Participants will experience growth in the skills needed to use G Suite tools to improve learning, engagement, and productivity.

Google Starts Rolling Out Training For Apps Following Synergyse Acquisition

In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to set goals for their learning using G Suite applications as support tools. They will explore the nature of multiple applications from the perspective of the teacher and student, learn to “plug in” distance or hybrid learning, and choose teaching options that provide from direct experience.

This workshop is suitable for elementary, middle school, high school and adult educators who have experience with G Suite/Google Classroom and want to learn how to use tools for optimal learning environments. Please bring your own equipment.

Using Technology To Support Students’ Mastery Of Academic Studies

The Google Slides Module is available on our Chromebook Basics and G Suite Online Training Sites for Granite teachers. The module walks you through the basics of Google Slides, but also includes some helpful tips and tricks.

To complete the project, read the presentation and then take the quiz. You can retake the test as many times as needed to achieve a score of 80% or higher. Granite teachers who complete the course will receive 2 licensure points.

The Google Slides module connects to the Chromebook Basics and Google Docs modules that are already published and ready for teacher participation. Additional electives in Google Apps are offered throughout the school year.

These educational resources are aimed specifically at Granite School District teachers, but interested students, parents, and community members can click on the sections to learn more about how Chromebooks work. and Google Apps in a Granite classroom environment. These features are still useful for teachers and students who do not have access to Chromebooks, since Google’s devices are cloud-based and can be accessed from most computers or devices in the school, or at home.

Medical Lake School District

Google Classroom is a learning management system (LMS) that aims to simplify the creation, distribution, and grading of assignments and engage students in online or distance learning. Google Classroom is a free app designed to help students and teachers communicate, collaborate, organize and manage assignments, do paperless work and more! It was introduced as a feature of Google Apps for Education after general availability on August 12, 2014.

This is the only app developed by Google for students and teachers, and they want it to be their homework manager to go to Google Drive and beyond. Assignment creation and distribution is done through Google Drive, while Gmail is used to send information to the class. Students can be invited to classes through the university’s database using a special code that can be added to the student interface or imported from a School Information Management system.

Google Classroom integrates with student and teacher Google Calendars. Each class with Google Classroom creates a special folder in the Google service that is ready to send their work to be selected by the teacher. Communicating through Gmail allows teachers to make announcements and ask questions to their students in each class. Teachers can add students directly from the Google Apps directory or send a code that students enter to access the classroom.

Unlike regular Google services, Google Classroom does not display ads for students, faculty or teachers in its interface, and user data is not scanned or used for advertising purposes.

Classroom Management Tools & Resources

Because Google Classroom is an LMS that integrates Google Apps for Education, it integrates with Google Docs, Google Slides, and other Google apps and other Education tools (for Google Classrooms only). Here are some examples of using multiple Google Apps that fit the SAMR model:

Technology is often used as a direct substitute for other low-tech tools (such as paper). Although there are advantages to the replacement (for example, improving the technical skills and knowledge of students), we recommend that you consider how you can use Google Classroom to change, to redefining lessons.

Work on the same lesson plan with a colleague at the same time using Google Docs. Store your lesson plans on your school’s shared Google Drive so everyone in your school can find and access them. Create a class-level folder to share resources.
